2019 Beringer ‘Distinction Series’ Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
Beringer’s “black album” of an offering is no dark horse – the quality in this bottle is never in doubt! Crafted to capture the outstanding nature of the Napa Valley AVA, this is always a favorite to bring home gold. The deep garnet color hints at the pomegranate and acai within. Crème de cassis and blueberry pie play against oak, cloves and black olive on the full-bodied palate. Opulent to the point of decadence with excellent depth and a firm, grainy backbone, this finishes with a lingering, earthy note. It's already eminently enjoyable, but at this price it should make you downright giddy.
Over the past 141 years, Beringer has built its name on quality and consistency. The oldest continuously operating winery in Napa Valley (they used a federal license during Prohibition that allowed them to make wine for religious purposes), they’ve been instrumental in both the development of Napa’s international reputation while simultaneously serving as a critical link to its past.
