2022 Beringer Private Reserve Chardonnay Napa Valley
The 2022 Beringer Private Reserve Chardonnay, sourced from Gamble Ranch and Big Ranch vineyards, showcases Napa Valley's essence. Grown in Oakville AVA's cool climate, the grapes, predominantly Wente Clone 4 from 1976 vines, maintain acidity. Blending with fruit from Oak Knoll's Big Ranch imparts a refreshing influence, enhanced by Burgundy clones. This vibrant Chardonnay reveals perfumed floral notes, a creamy palate with pomelo, pineapple, and mango layers, balanced oak, and a hint of minerality. The result is a luscious, full-bodied expression, culminating in a refreshing finish with depth.
Over the past 141 years, Beringer has built its name on quality and consistency. The oldest continuously operating winery in Napa Valley (they used a federal license during Prohibition that allowed them to make wine for religious purposes), they’ve been instrumental in both the development of Napa’s international reputation while simultaneously serving as a critical link to its past.
James Suckling
Golden apple, yellow plums, and a touch of banana peel followed by chamomile tea leaves, hawthorn, browned toast and seductive sweet baking spices. Medium- to full-bodied and creamy textured with soft acidity that beautifully balances out the wine. Very precisely framed with underlying herb and mineral layers. Aged for 11 months in 60% new French oak. Predominantly from the vineyards in Oakville. Drink or hold.
