Old Forester is the oldest continuously operating distillery in the United States. Unlike many of the other Kentucky distilleries, which have changed hands numerous times, it is still in the hands of its founding family. In 1870 founder George Garvin Brown introduced Old Forester to the people of Louisville: the first Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey to be sold in sealed glass bottles to ensure quality. Today Old Forester, made by the Brown-Forman Corporation, is experiencing a rebirth of sorts, with a new facility going in on Whiskey Row in downtown Lousiville, and a reputation for some of the best whiskeys in the heartland. In the last few years they’ve released several bottlings in their 4-part “Whiskey Row” series to commemorate their new facility coming soon. “Statesman” is the latest, and it’s got some star power behind it. The Kingsman movie series has come to the states and their American counterparts use a whiskey distillery as a cover for their operation. Old Forester consulted on the film and have released this new expression to coincide with the its release.
